Have you ever realized a huge mistake you've made and don't know what to do about it? When I recognized one of my many weaknesses, which is being a
workaholic and chasing the proverbial almighty dollar, I was faced with realizing that I was working a home based business to help my family, yet my family was “who” I was pushing aside and forgetting while building our dream. After figuring out what was wrong with how I was going about my new venture, I needed to figure out where this problem was coming from. This article is yet another layer of the onion being peeled away in my personal growth adventure, enjoy!
During another session of the weekend training I talked about in the previous article,
Cat’s in the Cradle, the expert from the front of the room played yet another heart wrenching song to make her point.
When working on personal growth in your life, sometimes it can be hard to look at the root of the problem…
you. None of us wants to admit we are wrong, I certainly don’t. But, I’ve learned over the years that to really grow, to be able to lead and share with others, we must look at ourselves with a serious, deep honesty that only we can do. Because…we are the only ones that can change ourselves. A good place to start is with a group we call
Mentoring for Free.
We all think at times that we can change someone else, come on now, you have too thought that. What about the little irritating things our spouses do when we first meet and then get married? Oh, that will be okay, he or she will change over time. Not necessarily and then it becomes a boil that festers, irritates and can cause some serious harm if left to grow. It can even be the very thing we fell in love with in them that becomes that festering boil years later, not good!
To begin the healing within ourselves, we have to take a good, hard look at the person looking back at us in the mirror. Doing so off and on will enable us to see where we are getting better and where it is we need to continue to work.
All I know is growth hurts sometimes, but is it worth it? Think about
why you are working your business, think about what drives you, is it your family? Isn’t your family worth a little elbow grease and tears, if it will make you a better mom, dad, grandma or grandpa? Sure it is.
So, when you listen to the words of this song, and look at yourself with truth and a desire to make tomorrow better, then this song can inspire you to greatness starting today. That is if you are willing to make a
change.
